How to Add an M3U Playlist Link to VLC, Kodi and Other IPTV Apps

An M3U playlist is a single web address that lists every channel and where its stream lives. Setting it up with ZorbaIPTV is simple: you paste that address into a player app, and the app turns it into a channel list. We send your private M3U link on WhatsApp, usually in under 15 minutes, next to your Xtream login. The link suits apps that only take a playlist, such as VLC, Kodi and Smart IPTV. It works in Smarters and TiViMate too, though there the Xtream login is easier. Your link holds your username and password inside it, so keep it private. This guide explains what the link looks like, how to add it to each app menu by menu, how to add the TV guide and how to fix the errors that beginners meet most.

What to have ready before you open M3U playlist

  • Your private ZorbaIPTV M3U link from WhatsApp
  • A player that accepts a playlist URL, such as VLC, Kodi, Smart IPTV, IPTV Smarters Pro or TiViMate
  • The guide (EPG) address from the same message, only for apps that ask for it separately
  • A way to copy and paste the link, such as WhatsApp on the same device or a phone keyboard app

No credentials yet? Ask for the free 24-hour ZorbaIPTV trial, no card required, and practice these steps on your own screen. Not sure this is the right guide? The setup hub helps you pick by device, and the Xtream Codes login explainer covers the three lines we send. Ready to order? Compare plan lengths and screen counts.

How to set up M3U playlist, in 12 beginner steps

  1. Find the M3U link in WhatsApp

Open the ZorbaIPTV message. The M3U link is the longest line. It usually contains get.php, your username and password, and ends with something like type=m3u_plus. Press and hold the link to copy it. Do not open it in a browser; that only downloads a file.

    Choose a ZorbaIPTV plan

  2. Know what the link contains

An M3U file is a plain text list. Each channel has a line with its name, logo and group, followed by a line with the stream address. Players read the group labels to sort channels into folders such as News or Movies. M3U8 is the same format saved in a way that handles accented letters.

  3. Test the link in VLC first

VLC is a free player from VideoLAN for Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone. On a computer, open the Media menu and choose Open Network Stream. Paste the link into the box and press Play. Then switch to the playlist view to see every channel. One channel playing means the link works.

  4. Install the Simple Client in Kodi

Kodi is a free media center from kodi.tv. Open Add-ons, then My add-ons, then PVR clients. At the time of writing (October 2026) you will find PVR IPTV Simple Client there. Select it, press Enable if it is off, then press Configure.

  5. Paste the link in Kodi

In the Simple Client settings, open the General section. Set Location to Remote path, then paste the link in M3U play list URL. Press OK. Newer Kodi versions may ask you to add a configuration first; the wording varies, but the URL field looks the same.

  6. Add the guide in Kodi

In the same add-on, open the EPG section. Set Location to Remote path and paste the guide address from our message in the XMLTV URL field. Press OK and restart Kodi completely. Channels appear under TV, sorted into the groups from the playlist.

  7. Send the link to a TV with Smart IPTV

On LG and some other smart TVs, the Smart IPTV app has no login screen. Instead you open siptv.app/mylist on your phone, type the TV MAC address and paste the link. Our Smart IPTV guide shows each step and the activation that the developer charges.

  8. Use the link in TiViMate or Smarters if you must

In TiViMate, choose Add playlist, then M3U playlist, and paste the link. In Smarters, choose Load Your Playlist or File/URL. Both work, but the Xtream login in those apps brings the guide and movie menus with less effort. Use it there if you can.

  9. Run a first-run check

Play one news channel for a minute. Open the guide if your app shows one and check program names appear. Try one movie if the app lists them. If channels play but the guide is empty, add the guide address as shown above and restart the app.

  10. Search rather than scroll

Your list holds 25,000+ channels plus the on-demand titles, so scrolling with a remote takes a while. VLC has a search box above its playlist. Kodi can search channels under TV. Type part of the channel name and you are there in seconds.

  11. Ask for a lighter link on slow devices

Some older TVs and small sticks slow down with a very long list. Message us on WhatsApp and ask for a live-only link without movies and series. Replace the old link in the app with the new one and restart. The list loads much faster.

  12. Share the link within your screen limit

One link may live in several places at once: VLC on the laptop, Kodi on the den computer, Smart IPTV on the bedroom set. Your ZorbaIPTV plan (one, two, three or five screens) limits how many stream together. Never post the link anywhere public, because your login is inside it.

Stuck on one of these steps? Take a photo of your screen with your phone and send it to us on WhatsApp. A real person will tell you which button to press next.

Which app should open your M3U link?

Any of these apps can play your ZorbaIPTV link. The best one depends on the screen you are using and how much you want to set up. All of them are third-party apps; we do not make or sell any of them.

No free M3U lists here, and why

Search for M3U and you will find "free IPTV lists" on GitHub, Telegram and forums. ZorbaIPTV does not share or link to them. Most are unlicensed, many stop working within days, nobody answers when they break, and some carry links to malware. Your ZorbaIPTV link is private to your account, and we help you when something goes wrong. Our M3U IPTV page explains the difference in more detail, and our article on whether IPTV is legal covers the wider question.

If your app supports it, the Xtream Codes login guide shows a shorter way in with the same account. Computer users can also follow the Windows and Mac setup guide, which uses VLC and other desktop players.

Help with your link on WhatsApp

Long links break easily when copied. If an app refuses yours, send a screenshot or photo to our WhatsApp at +44 7451 256085. A real person checks it and sends a fresh copy if needed. Help is free, 24/7, with every plan and the trial.

New here? Start with the 24-hour free trial, no card needed, then look at plan lengths and screens. A first order has a 7-day money-back promise.

Where to find the main menus on M3U playlist

App and system updates sometimes rename or move menus. Use this table as a map, not a promise. Seeing a slightly different label? Go with the nearest match, or snap a picture of the TV for us on WhatsApp.

Use the trial to check that the app, your device and our login work well together before you buy.

Picture pausing or slow to start? Check these first

  • Your connection: nothing beats a network cable. On wireless, choose the 5 GHz network and keep the router no more than a room or two away.
  • Other traffic at home: large downloads, game updates and cloud backups all share the same line. Pause them while you watch.
  • The app: close it fully and reopen it. If the player has a buffer setting, raising it one step can help.
  • The device: restart the stick, box or TV. Small streaming sticks run better after a fresh start.
  • The channel: some channels come in more than one version. Try another, then tell us which one gave you trouble.

Our streams come in HD, FHD and 4K; the 4K version exists only when the channel itself broadcasts in 4K. Bandwidth and hardware for that are covered in what 4K IPTV requires at home. Common M3U playlist setup problems and how to fix them

The browser downloaded a file instead of playing

That is normal; browsers save playlists rather than play them. Paste the link into VLC or Kodi instead, and delete the downloaded file, since your login is written inside it.

The app says Invalid playlist or No playlist

Part of the link was probably lost when copying. Copy the full line again from WhatsApp, check it ends with the type and output parts, and paste it again.

Kodi lists nothing under TV

Kodi loads the playlist only during start-up. Exit Kodi completely and open it again. Make sure PVR IPTV Simple Client is switched on and that no space sits before or after the pasted link.

Channels play but there is no guide

Most M3U apps need the guide address added separately. Paste the XMLTV or EPG address from our message into the app guide settings and restart it.

The list takes ages to open

A long playlist is heavy for small devices. Ask us for a live-only link, or use the Xtream login in an app that supports it, which loads groups as you open them.

Channel names show odd symbols

The app is reading the text in the wrong format. Update VLC or Kodi to the current version, which handle M3U8 and accented letters properly.

A channel stops with a too many connections error

Each screen playing at once uses one slot from your plan. Stop playback on another device and wait a minute before trying again.

Questions about M3U playlist and ZorbaIPTV

What is an M3U playlist link?

It is a web address that points to a text list of channels and their streams. A player app reads the list and shows it as channels sorted into groups. ZorbaIPTV sends a private M3U link on WhatsApp with every plan and trial. It contains your login, so keep it to yourself.

Which apps can open an M3U link?

VLC, Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client, Smart IPTV, IPTV Smarters Pro, TiViMate and many others. For apps that also accept an Xtream login, use that instead, as it brings the TV guide with less setup. Your ZorbaIPTV message contains both, so you can pick per device.

Is M3U8 different from M3U?

Barely. M3U8 is an M3U list saved in UTF-8 text, which keeps accented and non-English channel names readable. Modern players accept both. You never need to convert your ZorbaIPTV link; paste it as it is and the app handles the rest.

Can ZorbaIPTV send me a free M3U list?

No, and we never link to one either. Free public lists are mostly unlicensed, die within days, come with no support and sometimes carry malware. Your ZorbaIPTV link belongs to your account alone. To try it at no cost, ask for the 24-hour trial, which needs no card, and a first order still has a 7-day refund.

Does renewing give me a new M3U link?

Usually not. A renewal extends the account you already have, so your link keeps working as before. You get a new one only after a password change or an account move, and we send it on WhatsApp when that happens. Nothing renews by itself; you decide when to add time.
